On Tuesday, March 29, 2011, Kashayla Jackson was awarded the honor of being the March 2011 Youth of the Month at the weekly Optimist Club meeting at Luby’s after being interviewed by
Optimist members, Jim and Cheryl Pulley. She is the 10 year old daughter of Kayla Richardson and is in the 4th grade at Scotland Park Elementary School where she is an A/B student. Her favorite subject is Math. Kashayla is in the school orchestra playing violin and sings in the choir. She is also in the Juggling Club. Kashayla wants to attend college at MSU and hopes to become a nurse so she can help people get well!
Kashayla has been a Northeast Boys & Girls Club member for the last 3 years and attends the Club to have fun! Kashayla plays basketball for the Baby Knicks. She also participates annually in the Elks Hoop Shoot, the Optimist Tri-Star Basketball Competition, and Triple Play Challenges. Other program participation includes: Power Hour Homework help, Smart Girls, Photography, National Fine Arts Exhibit, and the Torch Club.
