May 2010 Youth of the Month

On Tuesday, May 25, 2010, Kenzie Russell was awarded the honor of being the May 2010 Youth of the Month at the weekly Optimist Club meeting at Luby’s.

Kenzie is the 11 year old daughter of Paulette Brasher and Mike Russell, and she is in the 5th grade at Cunningham Elementary where her favorite subject is Math.  She says she likes math, because she believes she will be able to use it in her chosen career field, which at the moment is the medical profession.  After graduating high school, she plans to attend the University of Texas.

Kenzie has been a member of the Southwest Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls for five years, and she is actively involved there in game room and gym activities – her favorite is dodgeball!  She takes advantage of the learning center, participating in Power Hour homework assistance, tutoring, and the Torch Club.  She is also a member of the Junior Staff.  Kenzie also enjoys goin to the Boys & Girls Club Camp at Lake Kickapoo, and she has participated in the Optimist Tri-Star Competitions!

One Boys & Girls Club staff members commented, “Kenzie is always standing up for others and is very deserving of this recognition.
